BLOOD+

Finally I finished watching BLOOD+. Okay, I have a LOT of things to say about this anime. I’m happy and sad with this anime.

Taken from Wikipedia,

“Blood+ starts a few decades after the events of Blood: The Last Vampire. Under the care of her adoptive family, Saya Otonashi has been living the life of an anemic and amnesiac, but otherwise ordinary schoolgirl. However, Saya’s happy life is shattered to pieces when she is attacked by a chiroptera, and learns that she is the only one who can defeat them. Armed with her sword, Saya embarks on a journey with her family, allies and faithful servant, Haji, to rid the world of Chiroptera and rediscover her identity.

The series is initially set in present day (September 2005) Okinawa City (Koza), on Okinawa Island, near the US Kadena Air Base. In the course of the series, Saya visits many locales across the world, while fighting enemy chiropterans and searching for her origins.”

Pros:

1. Very nice and beautifully created characters. Yeah, I say this because, the character drawings does not deteriorate after each episodes unlike some animes, *cough* Naruto *cough* . Also, Saya’s sword design is cool, and in physics point of view (mine at least) its logical. Character growth is nice. Each Character grows weak/strong nicely during the course of the plot.Character animation is really smooth and logical. Theres no such thing as one drops from a building in an awkward position, weird battle animations etc.

2. Locations are far and varied. Saya travels from east to west, ranging from Okinawa (Japan), Vietnam, Russia, France, United States, United Kingdom. Nice scenic view (in my opinion). Destruction (due to explosion, effects, crashes, etc) are nicely detailed.

3. I know the story of Blood series (watched Blood:The Last Vampire) and the story is nice. The concepts in the anime are also nice, not like some animes where the story gets weirder the more episode it runs.

4. It has blood. It has overkill, It has rage influenced killing. What more could I say? Using awesome moves to cut down enemies are really nice for me.

5. The music is AWESOME, especially the opening and ending songs. I like them all. Though these songs are no substitute to KAJIURA~sama.

Cons:

1. I don’t know about anyone else, but this anime is draggy. Seriously, if they removed all the draggy scenes, they could have made 30+ nice and awesome episodes.

2. I really hate denials. Come on, from start to finish, its something soo obvious, yet neglected. grrh.

3. Ending is abit of a shortcoming. They could have made the ending much happier (then again, thats just me since I would always prefer happy ending to a cliffhangar ending).

Conclusion:

This anime is nice. Oh don’t be fooled. The anime manages well in playing with heavy mood. This type of heavy mood arouser don’t come often in animes, as the likes of Neon Genesis Evangelion, etc. The ending, even though not a happy one, it still gives the audience (perhaps only me) something to be happy about after all the sad stuff has happened. A nice anime to watch.
